Missouri Association of Playwrights

 Mission Statement:
Missouri Association of Playwrights is formed for the following purposes:
to foster public interest in the art of playwriting through instruction, workshops, and play readings; to provide new and experienced playwrights opportunities and assistance in getting their plays produced; and to foster and encourage the public appreciation of all aspects of theatre.

Congratulations to George Hickenlooper!
He won the playwriting contest sponsored by the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre in Ann Arbor, MIchigan.
The prize will be a staged reading of his full-length play "The Sleepwaker" in July.

The Missouri Association of Playwrights, based in greater Saint Louis, is an organization devoted to developing new plays and playwrights.

In 2008 MAP celebrates its thirtieth anniversary!  Keep an eye out for our celebratory performance later this season.

MAP meetings are held each month except during the summer, generally on the third Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.  Starting in fall 2009, our meetings will take place at

The Stable Restaurant
1821 Cherokee St.
St Louis, MO.

Each month a new play or plays are read, followed by discussion and critique.  This offers an ideal opportunity for new playwrights to hear their work aloud.  It also provides a perfect venue for actors to showcase their talents and to remain active in fostering new theatre.

Join us to participate in creating dynamic new theatre in the greater Saint Louis area (including Illinois)!  We welcome writers, actors, and directors young and old to collaborate with us.
